Use Only Digital? Are You Kidding Me?

In my quest to add to my bag of “tricks” for good advertising tactics that are cheap and effective, I find a plethora of articles about digital marketing.  You’d think that there’s nothing else one can or should do.   But you should know digital marketing is simply another way to get in front of people with your ads or something about your business.  When it comes to main street businesses, the ones most on my heart, you have to know that digital is only part of the equation.

You see, you should have a list of things to do for marketing your business.  That could be newspaper, radio, TV, flyers, direct mail, events, Facebook, Google ads, reviews, website, business pages, email, WallaZoom, networking and more.  Notice that digital (Google, website, Facebook, business pages and email) was only about half of what you should be doing.  You will hear the younger crowd to tell you to be everywhere you can on the internet.  For them, that’s true because that’s what they know.  That’s what THEY do – but that’s not what everyone else does.   Thus, your strategy needs to put your business in front of everyone you can as long as it works and makes sense.  It only works if it’s brings you a sufficient ROI.  By that I mean, if you spend $100 doing it, you should get back more than that – preferably $200 for example.

So don’t get too worked up by not doing the next thing on the internet because it’s not the be all to end all.  Yes it’s important you get it done as soon as you can use it but don’t trap yourself into thinking that’s where it’s all at because it’s not.
