How To Think About Your Marketing

As you know, I’m the Cheap-Marketing Champion.   I love cheap…but ONLY if it brings results.  Plus, cheap does not necessarily mean spend the least you can, although that’s obviously smart.   It also means if you spent tens of thousands on marketing and it brought you great results then it’s cheap.

What are great results?

For example, if you spent $3,000 on flyers and made back $5,000, you got back $1.67 for every dollar you spent – a 166% ROI.  Not bad.  Just remember, ROI isn’t always your key indicator.  Other considerations are, 1) Did you bring in any new customers?  2) Did customers buy anything “not” on sale that made you good margins?,  3) Did it get some old customers back in who haven’t been there awhile?

In the hardware and lumber business we  look at ROI and other factors as well…at least I do.  Our flyers are nice and do a good job fairly often but they aren’t enough to do the job all the time.  So consider accentuating your advertising with killer cheap strategies such as my Facebook strategy.  If you haven’t seen it yet, download the free report on my home page.  You should be using this strategy constantly – it’s brilliant!
