Social Media Mistakes You Must Avoid

Because social media is so ubiquitous nowadays, everyone talks about it and one tends to believe that marketing on social media is THE thing to do.

Not so.

Remember, social media is simply another way to be in touch with customers – often new customers who don’t normally do business with you.  These are the most expensive customers to get.

Also, there’s a tendency to think you should be marketing on every social media available. That would mean twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Google+, and more.   Here’s the rub: Not all your customers are on all the social media.  In fact, most of your customers are not on all the social media.

Find out which ones, if any, your customers frequent.  How?  Ask them. When they come into the business, ask.  When you talk to them on the phone, ask. Email them if you have their email addresses and ask.  You will be shocked what you find.

One scenario is hardly any use social media, or if they do, they don’t use it much.  Or, the majority may be on Facebook.  That means you can skip Instagram, Twitter and the others.  It saves you time and frustration.
