Use The Invisible Power of Familiarity To Boost Profits

There’s the old saying “familiarity breeds contempt”. This is not true in the business world however.

This tactic is about your business being everywhere as much as possible. As you read further, you will see certain tactics that relate to being everywhere. For now, I want to explain the mindset for this and its importance.

Being everywhere means being in your local newspaper as often as you can. It means being where people are as often as you can. There are lots of ways to do this and the more you look for opportunities to do it, the more you will find and exploit.

The reason you want to be everywhere you can is a lesson from the Coca-Cola® company. They are the pros at being everywhere. You see them in fast food restaurants. On menus. On sides of the trucks. Commercials. Vending machines. Sports games. Bars. Road signs. Convenience stores. Shall I go on?

The point is, they are everywhere. Why does that matter? Because it helps to put them in your mind for when you’re thirsty. “What would you like to drink?” You: “A Coke®” Ok, maybe you prefer a different drink but many will say “A Coke®” just out of habit. Why? Do the like that drink the most? Who knows. But they are everywhere.

And when you are everywhere, you become familiar to the those who see you. When you’re familiar you become trusted. Don’t believe me? Would you rather buy a ring from someone you know or someone you don’t? Buying from someone you don’t know feels uncomfortable. You can’t explain it but you just don’t feel good about it like you’d like to.

That’s the power of familiarity.
